After beginning the higher education process at Lamar University, I had to review Carver's STaR chart that rates how we are applying the components of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology over the past three years. Based on this data, our campus' greatest strength seems to be Infrastructure, connectivity with rooms to LAN/WAN for easy access to resources and access to online learning with streaming video.
According the data, one weakness we have is in Educator Preparation and Development (professional development) referring to integrating technology into the content areas and follow up on staff development. I feel the people I invited to be a part of this wiki page are stars that will help Carver improve the use of technology and integration within the school.
A star is a luminous ball of plasma that is held together by its own gravity. You all shine brightly, each in your own way and hold not only your position together but leading and guiding the way for many others. I hold you all in high esteem.
This wiki will serve as a place in which we will gathering questions, suggestions, and ideas for deciding how to improve the integration of technology into the content areas and help design a plan for follow up on staff development. All members of the committee may "Edit this page," add and ask questions, or give suggestions.
Here are some questions to get our conversation started:
1. What training have you attended for technology staff development in the past year? 2. Do you need feel you need some follow up from a colleague or the technology department?
3. What specific training/professional development needs in technology would you like to see for Carver?
Thank you all for sharing this part of my educational journey.
